With the radio script “Rainfall retention protects soil”, Jean-Paul Ntezimana from Radio Salus in Rwanda won the grand prize in the climate change scriptwriting competition 2007/2008.

The second radio scriptwriting competition organized by Farm Radio International was launched in October 2007, in collaboration with CTA. With the title African Farmers’ Strategies for Coping with Climate Change, a radio scriptwriting competition for African radio organizations, radio broadcasters from all over sub-Saharan Africa were invited to participate.

After five months, more than 50 radio scripts were submitted by men and women from 20 countries across sub-Saharan Africa. The seven judges had a difficult job choosing the winners, but finally decided to give the grand prize to Jean-Paul Ntezimana from Radio Salus in Rwanda for his script on how to manage rainwater to prevent soil erosion and provide water for crops. You can read his script here.

For more information on the winners and their prizes, see this media release from May 2008.

The 15 winning radio scripts were published in French and English and distributed by Farm Radio International and CTA to more than 500 radio organizations across sub-Saharan Africa.
